The guidance building at the Reconstructed Townscape of the Ichijodani Asakura Family Historic Ruins is currently hosting the Yokai Castle Town Project exhibition.
The project is one of Creative ASUWA’s initiatives to draw visitors to the site. It imagines a world in which yokai have made their home beneath Ichijodani, and brings together eleven creatures devised from real excavated finds and local legends.
Hesokuri, for instance, carries the very same old coins that are on display in the museum — so the yokai offer a new way of enjoying Ichijodani.
An open call for further yokai is also planned.
