About this character
Since ancient times it has appeared around Ichijodani on June and July nights. Sometimes it moves in a swarm ringed by fireflies; sometimes it draws pictures in light across the night sky, trying to tell us something.
The fireflies wheeling around it are the given form of countless nameless soldiers who fell in the wars. Hotarubi leads those souls, wishing that the same mistakes are never made again, and each year in this season it takes to the air to carry that wish to us.
