About this character

Originally a rooster kept by Kobayashi Gonnokami, a retainer of Lord Yoshikage. Just before Oda Nobunaga’s forces arrived, it fled Echizen by boat from Sanribahama together with Yoshikage’s son, Aiomaru.

The boat drifted off the coast of Etchu and Niigata until roosters on land, answering Keiomaru’s long tail, began to crow. Following those calls, the boat made landfall.

It saved Aiomaru’s life. The place where they landed was named Echizenhama, and the rooster is enshrined at Torinoko Shrine.
