About this character
A yokai that emerges when the cherries flower. It adores scattering blossom storms, and leaves the villagers despairing over the sheer volume of petals to sweep up. Dumplings over flowers, every time — it has been known to help itself to people’s snacks.
When Asakura Yoshikage and Ashikaga Yoshiaki held a poetry gathering, it brought the weeping cherries into full bloom and made the occasion. It cannot bear the cold and hibernates through winter.
Anyone who meets it outside spring is said to be blessed with good fortune.
